Chaos In Catworld

May 26, 2008 · 2 Comments

Cats

This is my collection of pussy cats, some whittled in wax and carved in wood by my son, others made of crystal and porcelain. They are in chaos because the subject in the following photo likes to stick his paw in and stir them around. I think he likes to see himself doing it in the little mirror at the back. Clearly it’s a wearing activity.

Fridge Art

In response to those who wanted to know what the words on my fridge say, I offer the following. Being a purist, I’ve changed nothing, so it’s quite random and cheesy. Dear reader, I expect reciprocity.

The rules of the game get posted at the beginning. Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 4 or 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you have posted your answer.

Leroy

Bad Bad Leroy Brown is thrilled to have been tagged by the glorious Pearl, Queen of Nom, over at Shu’s Small World. He has taken some time out of his sitting-around schedule to consider the questions, and has asked me to relate the following:

What I was doing ten years ago

I was waiting for the right sucker to come along. When the time was right, I plonked myself at the front of the litter and, in the first and only display of energy I would ever make, howled ‘pick me! pick me! Oh please, pick me!’

Five things on my to-do l list for today

  • Hang around on top of the fridge hooking unwary passersby with the only claw no-one has been able to cut
  • Fight to the end for the best spot in the sunshine, then give it up at the first whiff of a superior position up someone’s shirt
  • Leap from the kitchen cupboards onto anyone doing that lovely ziggy-zaggy thing on the counter with a knife – just wish it didn’t make folk scream….
  • Hang from the doorknob – curse those round handles I can’t turn!
  • Stick my paw into the Red-Head’s collection of crystal ‘pussy cats’ and stir ‘em up good! Phonies…

Snacks I enjoy

A really good carrier bag, cat crunchies (preferably other cats’), string, biros, nail files, book corners, important cables — oooh, the list is endless!

Things I would do if I were a billionaire

I AM a billionaire! I am rich in the coin of the spirit.

Three of my bad habits

I have NO bad habits. I leave that to the Bearded One and the Red Head.

Five places I’ve lived

I’ve only lived in the one home, but let me tell you now I ain’t never going outside. My pads are pink and mister they are staying that way. I do have favourite spots to hang though – on top of the (flat screen) tv, up the Red Head’s shirt, on the warm bit of the sofa every single time the Bearded One gets up for something, underneath a newspaper from where I can leap out and create cardiac irregularities.

Five jobs I’ve had

Work? I’m a Burmese. Are you mad?

This has been such fun, it seems only fair to give other cats a chance to speak out. I tag Topsyturvydom, who I know is a cat person and can relate. I also tag Hesitant Scribe, because cat talk can only be therapeutic!

Boys

It’s 24 degrees in the dining room, but my Burmese boys have tucked themselves in bed. How is it cats can never be too warm?

Shrinking Violets

May 11, 2008 · 2 Comments

plabosThese are two of my African Violets, just coming into flower.  They are so delicate and sparkly, and the first one is a real surprise – hot pink and also the palest shade of pinky white.  In garden centres you only ever see the standard large-leaved dark purple and dark pink, so I treasure these and try to propagate them.  In this house we don’t have conventional window sills, just a shallow shelf, so I cram umpteen tiny pots on them all.

Being a Burmese

May 11, 2008 · 1 Comment

It can’t be easy. Life offers so many challenges and it’s so hard to take them all up when you’ve got an important schedule of lying around to adhere to. I have two Burmese cats and though both of them are exemplars of the breed, they are entirely different. Big fat roly poly I’m-Lilac-don’t-call-me-cream, no show without Punch Bad Bad Leroy Brown versus light as a butterfly, blue as the blue moon, mournful miaowing Lamarr. See for yourself.LeroyLamarr
